_Hi everybody, did you have a dinner or a lunch already?
I do not yet. Well, I hope you have the good habit to eat some fruit. In Italy we usually eat fruit at the end of the lunch, so we can say "siamo alla frutta", litterally "we are at the end of the meal". It's a way of saying to describe a negative situation as "to touch bottom" (we have the same way of saying too "toccare il fondo") that haven't nothing to do with the fruit and I don't know if it's the same meaning of "being at the end of the meal". Can someone remove my doubts? Have a nice time

_Hi everybody, as yesterday I'll show you some different meanings of a word, this time I've chose the word pizza.
It's basically a famous italian food around the world but I can use it if I have the intention to slap someone. In fact in Italian slang "dare una pizza a qualcuno" is like "to slap someone" (Pizza as Slap). So beware if you go to eat out at restaurant... You can also use this word if something is boring: "Ti piace il film?-- Non mi piace è una pizza" "Do you like this movie?-- No, I don't like it's boring" (Pizza as Boring) or if you won't to do something "Devi lavare i piatti--Che pizza" "You must wash the dishes-- What a pain in the neck" (Pizza as Pain in the neck). Interesting, isn't it? Have a nice day. _This time I wanna make something different starting from the word "palla"= "ball".
How many ways of saying contain this word in italian? One of these is "alzare il volume a palla" = "pump up the volume to the maximum level", "a palla" as "maximum". I can also say "andare a palla" = "going fast (with car, bike etc)", "a palla" as "fast". These are situations where the word "palla" acquires a meaning of power. In a different way we use this word when in our opinion an event is certain that will happen "il professore mi interrogherà a palla" = "the teacher will certainly ask questions to me". "A palla" as "certainly". Last but not least you can use this word when something is very boring: "Questo film è una palla" = "This movie is double boring", "una palla" as "double boring". Have a good time. |
